We are excited to share information to help you and your Corps Member prepare for their VYCC experience. Some is new this year, so even if you are a returning family, this page will be helpful to you!

Below, you will find the schedule we had planned for 2020.  With COVID-19, we are still determining when we will safely be able to run programming and what that programming will look like.  For the recent information, this COVID page of our website gets updated every Friday.

Thursday, June 18- Conservation AmeriCorps Crew orientation. Corps Members should arrive by 11 am.

Friday, June 19-  Farm AmeriCorps Crew orientation. More details to come!

Saturday, June 20- All Corps Start Up (All individuals for 1st session summer, long term, and summertime Corps Members). Corps Members are asked to arrive at 9 a.m. Please do not arrive before this time!

Monday, June 22- First day of Conservation and Farm Day crews first session.

Thursday, July 16- Farm first session closure and Celebration Dinner, a final meal that families are welcome to attend! Members will be done by 7:30 pm.

Friday, July 17- Conservation Day crew first session closure.

Sunday, July 19- Conservation Camping Crew closure of first session. Families, friends and fans may join for closure at 2pm, Members may leave by 3pm.

Friday, July 24 and Saturday July 25-Wilderness First Aid for Conservation AmeriCorps crews.

Saturday, July 25- Conservation Chittenden county day crew (only) and Youth Camping Crew startup. Corps members should arrive by 9am. Please do not arrive before this time!

Sunday, July 26- Conservation AmeriCorps crews second session startup.

Monday, July 27- Conservation Day Crews; Brattleboro, Richmond and Woodstock  AND Farm Youth Day Crews second session startup.

Thursday, August 20- Farm AmeriCorps and Youth Day Crew Closure of second session and Celebration Dinner, a final meal that families are welcome to attend! Members will be done by 7:30 pm.

Friday, August 21- Conservation Day Crew and AmeriCorps Crew closure of second session. Corps Members will be done by 5pm.

What is Start-Up? Start-up is the first day of the season for our Crew Members. This is an opportunity for you to meet our Headquarter staff, Conservation Crew Leaders, and Farm Crew Leaders, for us all to meet your Crew Member, and together, to set your Crew Member up for a great season.

When is the first day of the season? Start dates depend on the session and crew. All first session Youth Crew Members, summer and long term Young Adult positions start June 20, 2020. Second session starts on July 25, 2020. For a full look at our season schedule, head over to our Get Ready for Your Season page and find the schedules under your Crew Member’s position title.

**AmeriCorps Members Orientation – Thursday, June 18, 2020: All AmeriCorps Crew Members are expected to be at our Headquarters on Thursday, June 18 by 11 a.m. If you are not able to make this training, please contact Caitlin Perrier to make other arrangements. More details to come!

**All Corps Member Start Up – June 20: All Corps Members (Crew Members and Crew Leaders) who are joining us for 1st session, summer or long term positions will need to be at the Barn by 9am. Registration and paperwork process should last no later than 11 a.m. Once your Crew Member is all set, you are welcome to head out and say your goodbyes. If your Crew Member is on a Community Crew, you will need to swing on back to VYCC at 2 p.m. for pick up.

We have two online forms that are SUPER easy – your Crew Member’s morning will be a lot easier if they have filled these out prior to Start Up: Health Form and Grant Eligibility Form

Bring the proper identification to fill out hiring paperwork! This is mostly for the I-9, so your Crew Member can be paid and start work. If you are unable to bring the necessary identification or have any questions, please be in touch with Laura DeMaria.

Not done with the hiring paperwork? No worries! Send everything you have done electronically to Laura DeMaria or bring it with you!

By Car

The best way to get to us is from I-89.

If driving north on I-89: take exit 11 (Richmond). From the exit ramp, turn left on Route 2 East (towards Richmond). The West Monitor Barn (our Headquarters) is located on the left side of Route 2, two miles after the light in the town of Richmond.

If driving south on I-89: take exit 11 (Richmond). From the exit ramp, turn right on Route 2 East (towards Richmond). The West Monitor Barn (our Headquarters) is located on the left side of Route 2, two miles after the light in the town of Richmond.

By Air

Contact us if you are going to need a ride from the Burlington International Airport to our Headquarters in Richmond. Please email Hans for all Conservation Crew Members and Kyle for all Food and Farm Crew Members with your flight information and confirm a pick up time.

By Public Transportation

Green Mountain Transit offers the Montpelier LINK Express to the Richmond Park and Ride where we pick up and drop off Food and Farm Corps Members daily. This bus is only available during the weekdays. If your Crew Member will be taking public transportation, please communicate this to our staff, so we can properly coordinate a ride to the West Monitor Barn.

Still need some help with logistics?.

If you need support getting to VYCC on a weekend, please be in touch with us at Headquarters as we can support finding transportation to VYCC for start-up and orientation.
