Consultation Services

Over the years the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps has developed a strong track record for assisting local communities with the implementation of conservation projects. We have found that many communities and agencies look to the VYCC not only for labor but also for project design assistance. In fact, several agencies and towns have sought our help for project design even though they did not wish to sponsor a VYCC crew to work on the project. We would like to continue to assist communities and agencies with the implementation of their local initiatives. The following is an explanation of our assistance program.

Consulting Services Available

Agencies/Groups Seeking VYCC Crews:

Included with your crew sponsorship, the VYCC will provide, at no charge, up to 24 hours of planning time for the following services:

  • site visit to assess project length and nature
  • checklist for project planning purposes
  • feedback on project details such as materials and tool needs
  • outline of weekly crew work goals
  • coordination of equipment storage
  • coordination of project start up and crew orientation to project
  • other planning services as needed (excluding project design).  If a sponsor or agency requests additional assistance with the detailed planning and design of the project (as described below), there will be a charge of $25/hour.

Agencies/Groups Seeking Only Project Design and Development Assistance:

There will be a charge of $25/hour for VYCC consultation dedicated to the design, detailed planning and development of the project. This includes:

  • site assessment/meetings to define agency's vision of final product.
  • field work, such as design and layout, flagging, boundary identification
  • mapping
  • cost analysis for overall project and/or specialized structures (ie: bridges, signs, picnic facilities, drainage structures, etc.)
  • development of materials lists and other information as needed
