Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to teach young people personal responsibility through meaningful work that connects us to the land, community, and one another. VYCC is Vermont’s leading environmental and educational organization that provides inspiring and rewarding work opportunities for youth. Our program model is: small teams, well-trained leaders, and diverse crews working to complete projects that benefit the broader public.

Our work is guided by the belief that every young person deserves the chance to work hard and to make meaningful contributions.  We believe that youth need structured and well-led opportunities to practice leadership, teamwork, and professional skills. These beliefs are evident in our tagline: Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Leaders. Join us!

AMERICORPS VISTA – Development Team

Serve Vermont through a one-year term of AmeriCorps service, as a member of our growing Development team. This five-person team plans and executes the organization’s fundraising, marketing, communications, and alumni relations efforts. The A*VISTA is responsible for three projects:

Support expansion of our Farm Program’s food security initiative – the Health Care Share. We are delivering the Health Care Share in four regions of Vermont, with plans to be in all areas of the state by 2019. The Member works with VYCC’s Farm Program staff and medical center partners to convene food teams in each community. Food teams help raise funds through grass roots efforts, grants, and events to ensure the sustainability of the Health Care Share. (Read about the Health Care Share here.)

Support VYCC’s new effort to engage alumni, and measure the short and long term impact of programs. Coordinate collection of data from Corps Members and alumni, assist with data analysis and reporting of outcomes and use of data to make program improvements. This project will enable us to report quantifiable data for the first time in our 30 year history! In addition, the Member will build relationships with alumni to facilitate new ways in which VYCC can serve our alumni as they pursue their personal and professional goals.

Last, the Member will support VYCC’s broader fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. Take a lead role in our annual online holiday auction (held every December), assist with grants and events.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA, serve with approximately 30 other A*VISTA’s across the state. Monthly seminars and service opportunities enable this group to form a community and professional network.   More information on serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA is here.
