For the past two years, the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps has partnered with the Lee River Program throughout the school year to employ youth at the VYCC Leadership, Education, and Training Center in Richmond, VT. The mission of this experience is to provide non-traditional 9th and 10th grade students with a combination of academic classes, work experiences and behavioral support that will enable them to be successful in school.

The current VYCC/Lee River Program volunteer holds the position of Maintenance Assistant and is involved with taking care of the facility. He is involved with a variety of tasks including: monthly maintenance of the facility, large event preparation, tool repair and maintenance, composting, fire systems monthly check, and summer field program preparation.

The off campus site of the Lee River Program offers students an alternative/interim placement to the daily academic schedule that serves the Mount Mansfield Union High School. The Lee River Program is located off campus in Jericho, Vermont and student activities and program curriculum are integrated within the surrounding community.

Students eligible for the VYCC/Lee River Program are identified by the Lee River Program and are not placed through the VYCC Youth Development office.
